Why do people put mirrors in front of their decks? Is it a "I love watching my hands" thing or a "like what dancers do to improve their technique" thing?
Mirror, mirror on that there wall...

After years of using them with dancing, it just became natural to use them cutting. Plus the fact that for a long time, my decks were on my dresser.. It allows you to see anything that might be affecting your efficiency of movement. It's much easier to see what you're doing wrong then "feel" it when you're not already fluent in it. Don't use mirrors anymore, but ye ole flipcam is a lifesaver sometimes (more so with my skating nowadays than my cutting). Same reason athletes watch tape of themselves after practice and games. It's a great way to learn about what you're doing right or wrong.

you get a clear view of your posture through a mirror.. and it looks like you have twice as many decks
i also find it useful for analysing what other people do in videos because you get used to viewing how you do things yourself from the reflection. That helps when you watch other people in videos from an angle where the cameras in front of the decks and youre looking at movements 180 degrees from where youd normally see them if you were performing the cuts.
