Why do people put mirrors in front of their decks? Is it a "I love watching my hands" thing or a "like what dancers do to improve their technique" thing?

Maybe its not a mirror, but a door to an alternat reality?

I think some people prefer staring at themselves over the ubiquitous wall... Or maybe the draw of their own reflection is enough on its own?

After years of using them with dancing, it just became natural to use them cutting. Plus the fact that for a long time, my decks were on my dresser.. It allows you to see anything that might be affecting your efficiency of movement. It's much easier to see what you're doing wrong then "feel" it when you're not already fluent in it. Don't use mirrors anymore, but ye ole flipcam is a lifesaver sometimes (more so with my skating nowadays than my cutting). Same reason athletes watch tape of themselves after practice and games. It's a great way to learn about what you're doing right or wrong.

i had a mirror infront of my old setup because that way people couldnt walk up behind me without me seeing them when i have my headphones on.

I'd say more DJs could do with performing in front of mirrors. Too many are heads down and have no idea of their physical presence.

you get a clear view of your posture through a mirror.. and it looks like you have twice as many decks ;)

i also find it useful for analysing what other people do in videos because you get used to viewing how you do things yourself from the reflection. That helps when you watch other people in videos from an angle where the cameras in front of the decks and youre looking at movements 180 degrees from where youd normally see them if you were performing the cuts.

A few logical answers here, thank you, but the best one has to be twice as many decks! :D
