ok i have a gemini xl-100 i bought as a project. the turntable is properly grounded and has a brand new ortofon needle mounted on
a technics headshell so i know that's not the problem. but when i turn up the volume i hear an annoying buzz.
when i play records you can't hear the buzz but as soon as lift the needle and it's dead air you can hear it.
any suggestion on how to eliminate this? is it just the way the table was made ? and turning up the volume just amplifies the buzz?

not sure, the buzz goes away when i unplug the power cord from the back of the unit. also the buzz increases as i increase the volume.
the chasis is plastic so maybe that's why? i soldered a headshell weight on the inside and connected it to the ground post on the
inside hoping to improve the ground and no luck.

Heh, that was my first 'DJ" turntable.

Tossed it out last year. I can't help you with the buzz issue, though; last time I used it was 1992. The other one I pawned in the late 90s.
